Where we came from

Before Roof King existed, our owner spent four years on a catastrophe team at a national claims outfit, inspecting storm-damaged roofs on the carrier side and earning a HAAG certification doing it. That is an unusual starting point for a roofing contractor and it shapes how this company operates.

Working claims teaches you two things quickly. The first is that most denied claims are not denied because the damage was not there. They are denied because nobody documented it properly. The second is how often a homeowner gets talked into a claim that was never going to go anywhere, and ends up with a denial on their record and a contractor who has stopped answering the phone.

Roof King opened in 2020 to do the opposite of both.

How we work

We document before we scope. Every slope gets photographed, test squares get marked where hail is suspected, and the file gets built before anyone writes an estimate. Adding evidence after an adjuster has already made a determination is a much harder conversation than bringing it the first time.

We also tell people when there is nothing there. A free inspection that ends in "your roof is fine, here is the documentation for your records" is a good outcome. It is not a wasted trip.

On the retail side the same principle applies. If your roof has five good years left, we will say so. Replacement pays us considerably better than telling you to wait, and we tell people to wait regularly.

• GAF Master Elite Contractor. Held by a small fraction of US roofing contractors. It is what allows us to write GAF System Plus and Golden Pledge warranties, which a non-certified contractor cannot offer at all.
• GAF President’s Club. GAF’s recognition tier above Master Elite.
• BBB A+ Accredited since 2020.
• HAAG Certified Inspector. Earned on the claims side, not bought as a marketing badge.
• Licensed HIC-L00828 through the City of Columbus, plus an active Ohio general contractor license.

What we install

We work primarily with GAF, James Hardie, Alu-Rex and other manufacturers whose systems we can warranty end to end. We do not mix components across systems to shave cost out of a bid, because doing that quietly voids the manufacturer warranty the bid was selling you.

Statewide in Ohio, from our office at 6155 Huntley Rd Unit L in Columbus. Our densest coverage is Columbus, Dayton, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Akron and the communities around them.
