What is covered, by whom, and for how long
There are two separate warranties on a roof and they cover different failures. Most warranty disappointment comes from not knowing which one applies.

A material defect claim goes to GAF. An installation error comes to us. Contractors who blur that line are usually setting up to point at the other party later.
Why Master Elite matters here
GAF restricts its strongest warranties to certified contractors. As a Master Elite contractor we can offer the GAF System Plus and Golden Pledge Limited Warranty on qualifying roof systems. A contractor without that certification cannot write them, no matter what their proposal says.
Golden Pledge in particular includes GAF’s own inspection of the completed installation, which is a meaningful layer of accountability that does not depend on us grading our own work.
What voids coverage
- Mixing systems. Enhanced GAF warranties require qualifying accessory components from the same system. Substituting a cheaper starter or ridge cap to win a bid can disqualify the warranty entirely.
- Inadequate ventilation. Manufacturer coverage generally assumes a properly ventilated attic. A roof installed over a ventilation deficiency can have its coverage challenged.
- Later work by others. A satellite dish, solar array or gutter guard fastened through the roof afterward can affect coverage at that penetration.
- Unregistered warranties. Enhanced manufacturer warranties must be registered. We register yours and give you the documentation rather than telling you it was handled.
Transferability
Enhanced GAF warranties are generally transferable to a subsequent owner within a defined window, which is a genuine asset at resale. Terms and the transfer window are set by GAF and stated in your warranty document.
Read your actual warranty document. What is written on this page is a plain-language summary. The governing terms, exclusions and limits are in the document GAF issues and in your signed agreement with us. If those ever conflict with something a salesperson told you, the document wins. Ask for it in writing before you sign.
