How we document and scope a storm claim.
How we approach insurance claims
How we document and scope a storm claim. Everything on this page sits inside our broader storm damage work, and the standards there apply here.
Documentation is the whole game
A denied claim is usually a documentation failure, not a coverage failure. Test squares, slope-by-slope photo sets, collateral damage on soft metals and screens, date-stamped weather data tied to the loss date. We build the file before anyone writes a scope, because adding evidence after an adjuster has already made a determination is a much harder conversation.
Hail
Hail bruising is not always obvious from the ground and is frequently missed on a fast inspection. Functional damage means the mat is fractured and the granule loss has started a clock on the shingle. We mark and photograph test squares on every slope, not just the one facing the street.

FAQ
Storm Damage questions
Do I have to file a claim to get an inspection?
No. We inspect and document first. If there is no compensable damage we tell you that, and you have a written record either way.
What if my claim was already denied?
A denial can be reinspected. Bring us the carrier estimate, the denial letter and the loss date. We review the file against what is actually on the roof before advising you on next steps.
Will a claim raise my rates?
That is between you and your carrier and we will not speculate about your policy. Your agent can tell you how weather-related claims are treated on your specific policy.
Can you waive my deductible?
No, and no reputable Ohio contractor will. A contractor offering that is telling you what they are willing to do to your insurer, and eventually to you.
